We left a rainy, cold Seattle on a 10:30pm flight to fly roughly 3,000 miles to Miami, FL. We were looking forward to the warm sun, sandy beaches and smooth sailings on our 5-day cruise in the Eastern Caribbean.
Instead, we arrived to 42 degrees and 4 hours of waiting at the airport. Our first stop...BREAKFAST!
Now you'll have to imagine the process of getting to the cruise terminal, going through security screenings and checking in, because cameras were not allowed. We ended up getting there early, which turned into a blessing because we were among the first on the boat...however, keep in mind that we haven't really slept in probably 20 hours.
As we waited to file on to the ship, we heard the announcement that we would not be able to access our rooms until 1:30, a full two hours away. Oi.
What to do? Eat some more! We headed to the Lido Deck (#9 of 10) and the big buffet.
I was a nice wife and didn't take any pictures of Tim that night...why? Because the poor guy was green. Seriously.
Many of the crew members mentioned that they had never been on such rough waters leaving Miami and it truly didn't stop until we reached Nassau the next morning (but then continued that night and pretty much every day afterwards). Thankfully that was the only time anyone in our group got sick, and it was probably a combination of the crazy weather and having had very little sleep.
