Egan's 1st Halloween

Can you guess who Egan dressed up as for Halloween? If you thought Charlie Brown, you're correct!

Our local library had an "all ages" story time in the morning, which included trick or treating throughout the library. I invited my friend L and her daughter E to join us. E was a banana, but the costume inhibited her ability to crawl and she ended up looking more like a (adorable) banana slug.
The library was absolutely PACKED with children and their parents. The story time room was "standing room only" and by the time we got there, they were only letting in older kids who could go unsupervised. Thankfully the staff quickly put together a second story time in the children's section of the library and we were able to partake in those festivities.

After Tim got home from work, we took some family pictures with our pumpkins (see the previous post for more on those).
This kid makes the craziest faces.

The Downtown Business Association puts together a "Safe Trick or Treat" for the city. They shut down several blocks of the downtown core and almost all of the shops were giving out candy. Most of the owners were also dressed up. The theater, The Admiral, had a DJ set up and one of the local dance schools was performing in the street. There was also a free carnival set up in one of the parking garages, but since we didn't have any kids with us who could actually play games, we decided to skip that.
Egan did a great job pulling candy out of the bowls, but he didn't quite understand (or care) that you're supposed to take the wrapper off before stuffing in your mouth...

We met E and her parents downtown too - it was more fun trick or treating with two babies!

Egan will learn the importance of the obligatory family selfie...
We quickly walked home before it got dark and passed out candy to our 12 trick or treaters until around 8:45. This was a record year for us - the most we ever got in our condo was 2!

Pumpkin Carving

The Tuesday before Halloween was dedicated to carving pumpkins! All three of us were responsible for one, but Egan needed a little help, since his was a little big...
But he found the innards to be pretty amusing.
Tim's pumpkin was a little...rotten...when he cut it open, so after pouring out the guts, the gloves were necessary for handling!
Egan wanted to help Tim carve my (not rotten!) pumpkin...
but settled for a cute picture instead!
Here's our trio - can you spot the theme?
The bonus: delicious roasted pumpkins seeds and a house that smells like fall!
